STORIES

HISTORY AND HIGHLIGHTS
Enjoyed a solid WHL career but was never drafted … Attended Red Wings training camp as a free agent in 2008 but was cut and returned to WHL, where he led all Portland defense scorers (68-9-28-37) … The Red Wings signed him to a three-year deal in an effort to improve their defensive depth, which was thin at the time … Earned a spot in the AHL with Grand Rapids right away and spent the next three seasons with the Griffins, topping out with four goals and 11 assists in 52 games in 2010-11 … Wasn’t tendered a qualifying offer in 2012 and became an unrestricted free agent.

RWC SCOUTING EXCERPTS
Good skater and puck-mover … Stocky with good strength … Hard point shot … Versatile and has skated as a forward during his AHL time with Grand Rapids … Decision-making with puck needs work at the pro level … Has good skills but doesn’t produce much … Plays a simple game and doesn’t have a great deal of NHL upside.

RWC SCOUT QUOTES
“He can skate the puck out of trouble, which is a good. His upside is his skating and his size and (making) a good first pass out of his zone. He really has no problem with the physical aspects (of the AHL) or the speed in terms of defending.” — Grand Rapids Griffins GM Bob McNamara (2010).
