| HISTORY AND HIGHLIGHTS |
Never drafted despite a productive QMJHL career … Caught the Red Wings’ attention after a 102-point over-age campaign with Chicoutimi that earned him QMJHL MVP and first-team all-star honours in 2007-08 … Earned an invite to Red Wings training camp and earned an AHL contract with Grand Rapids in 2008-09 … Played so well as a rookie (61-23-24-47, team-best plus-23) he earned a two-year contract with the Red Wings in April … Production dipped in 2009-10 with Grand Rapids, falling off to 39 points … Enjoyed seasons of 54 and 52 points in 2010-11 and 2011-12 and earned the Griffins’ Man of the Year award in 2011-12 for his outstanding community contributions … Finished 2011-12 campaign on a tear (18-6-16-22) and served as a Black Ace for the Red Wings’ brief playoff run.

| RWC SCOUTING EXCERPTS |
Cerebral offensive player who can pick holes in the defense with or without the puck … Another one of those puck-possession-type players that fit the Red Wings’ blueprint … Boasts soft hands and a hard, quick shot that made him a 50-goal scorer at the major junior level … Too inconsistent, running red-hot or ice-cold production-wise … Needs to pick up his skating, particularly his one-step quickness … Not a physical presence … Still needs to improve his defensive game and attention to detail, as offense alone won’t carry him to the NHL.
| RWC SCOUT QUOTES |
“He’s such a smart player … The puck follows him around. He’s got great hands, he always knocks it out of the air, and he’s in the right place at the right time — all the time.” — Grand Rapids Griffins GM Bob McNamara (2009).
