Red Wings sign Kolosov
By Matthew Wuest - RedWingsCentral.com / June 26, 2008The Detroit Red Wings have signed hard-hitting Belarusian defenseman Sergei Kolosov to a two-year entry-level contract.
Kolosov spent last season with Dinamo Minsk of Belarus's top pro league. He had four goals, six assists and 73 penalty minutes in 47 games.
The 6-foot-4, 187-pounder was Detroit's fifth-round pick (151st overall) in 2004. The Red Wings would have lost the 22-year-old's rights had they not signed him by July 1. He is expected to play in the American Hockey League in 2008-09.
