Forwards Randy Cameron (Moncton, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League) and Zack Torquato (Erie, Ontario Hockey League), drafted in June, were both reassigned to their junior teams. Goaltender Pier-Olivier Pelletier (Drummondville, QMJHL) was the highest profile cut among free agents. Others were forwards Josh Aspenlind, John Kurtz, Scott Brannon, Yves Bastien and David Jarram; defensemen Victor Bartley, Chad Greenan and Patrik Magnusson; and goaltender Dominic Vicari. Free-agent defenseman Scott Jackson, a former St. Louis Blues second-rounder, survived the cuts and will get a look in the exhibition season.
