The following is a snapshot of the good and the bad from the Detroit Red Wings' 3-2 loss to the New York Rangers at the annual prospects tournament in Traverse City, Mich., on Monday.
PLUS
Scott Jackson scored the Red Wings’ first goal on a hard shot from the point and played solid defense with partner Jakub Kindl.
Jonathan Ericsson scored his team-leading third goal in three games and once again impressed with his physical presence and sound defensive game.
Jan Mursak continued an excellent tournament, picking up an assist and coming within inches of tying the game late in the third with a shot off the post.
MINUS
Scott Brannon, along with linemates Randy Cameron and John Kurtz, had difficulty clearing the defensive zone.
John Kurtz found himself getting caught in the defensive zone, which led to multiple scoring chances for the Rangers.
Chad Greenan was a team-worst minus-2 while paired with Jonathan Ericsson. He had trouble with his outlet passes and turnovers.
