|
2004-05:
- Politics kept Kolosov in Belarus for the season, preventing him from playing in the WHL.
- Represented Belarus at the WJC in Grand Forks, N.D. (six games, no points, minus-6).
- Spent most of the season playing with Dinamo Minsk of the Belarusian Elite League (37-2-6-8).
- Dropped from Prince George’s list of eligible Europeans, leaving him without a CHL team.
- Transferred to HC Minsk late in year and appeared in nine playoff games.
- Signed on with Cedar Rapids of United States Hockey League in off-season.
|

| SCOUT COMMENTS |
| “He’s a really, really steady player who just makes the simple play, always seems to make the correct play, and doesn’t get himself into problems. There’s not a lot of flash to him. His game is a lot like Andreas Lilja’s.” — Griffins general manager Bob McNamara (February 2009). |
| STRENGTHS |
| Plays a no-frills game, focusing on his own end first … Good mobility, particularly considering his size … Gets in the way physically and uses his size to contain opposing forwards … Makes good decisions with the puck … Showed the ability to make a physical impact at the junior level.
|
| WEAKNESSES |
| Still a raw project finding his way in the pros … Offensive upside is extremely limited … More physical assertiveness would be a plus, especially as he gains strength and experience. |
| PROJECTION |
| Kolosov is big stay-at-home defenseman, but after showing positive signs as an American Hockey League rookie in 2008-09, hasn’t taken the steps needed to assert himself as an NHL prospect. At age 24, and already on his second contract with the Red Wings, his time might be up. If the Red Wings don’t give him a qualifying offer, he will be an unrestricted free agent on July 1, 2011. |
