| SCOUT COMMENTS |
| “He’s big, he plays the game hard, and at the end of the day, he’ll be a shut-down guy. He blocks shots, he throws open-ice hits, he likes to fight, and he plays a North American style of game.” — Red Wings scout Jeff Finley (June 2011) … “The reason why he got drafted was because he was in people’s faces and he played hard and he can move the puck and take care of the D-zone. Our organizational message to him (in the summer) was to be better defensively this year than he was last year.” — Red Wings director of player development Jiri Fischer (October 2012).
| STRENGTHS |
Stands a towering 6-foot-5 and is seemingly getting stronger by the month … Relishes physical contact and plays a physical game with a mean streak … Not shy about dropping the gloves … Uses his size and impressive wingspan effectively in his own zone to defend.
| WEAKNESSES |
Limited offensive ability, even though it isn’t his game … Must show he has the skill to safely move the puck out of his own zone and not commit turnovers, especially as he moves up the ranks.
| PROJECTION |
Nedomlel was drafted for his size, toughness and stay-at-home game, and he’s improved as a puck-mover in two WHL seasons since then. Although Nedomlel’s stats don’t jump off the page, the Red Wings liked what they saw from Nedomlel and signed him to a three-year contract in April 2013. He’ll look to establish himself as an AHL regular with Grand Rapids in 2013-14.
