SCOUT COMMENTS
"He's a great skater with typical European skills and he competes hard." — Red Wings assistant general manager Jim Nill (June 2006) ... "He just has to get stronger. He's as weak as a noodle right now, but you wouldn't know it watching him. He's real strong on his feet, so when he comes out of the corner he doesn't get trapped too much. He's a very competitive kid." — Red Wings director of amateur scouting Joe McDonnell (October 2006) ... "He's been struggling. He had an average camp, coming off a strong AHL playoff (in 2006-07). He put on almost 15 pounds in the off-season and it might be affecting him. It might be taking him a little time to grow into his body." — Nill (November 2007) ... "I don't know if he's as quick as Helm, but if he's not, he's pretty close. I don't think it's out of the realm to say he's going to score in the NHL just by virtue of his speed. He's gonna get himself scoring opportunities. And if he continues to shoot the puck the way he's shooting it now, he's going to score. His skating is just so strong." — Griffins general manager Bob McNamara (March 2010).

STRENGTHS
Not far behind Darren Helm in the foot-speed department ... Best assets are terrific skating ability and stickhandling ability ... Excellent one-step quickness and acceleration ... Great moves and offensive smarts, with a Pavel Datsyuk knack for weaving through traffic and emerging with the puck ... Soft hands and scoring ability ... Willing to go to the net ... Good vision and playmaking ability ... Competitive ... Isn't afraid to get his nose dirty.

WEAKNESSES
Has yet to fully reach his offensive potential at any level, including major junior, although he came close in 2009-10 ... Gaining strength will be crucial in helping him make the grade at the NHL level ... Short temper that results in undisciplined penalties.

PROJECTION
Mursak made believers out of just about everybody in 2009-10 after a horrible AHL rookie campaign. His devastating speed and emerging scoring touch were at the forefront and he has pushed himself back to prominence. The hope is he'll take another big step forward in the AHL in 2010-11 and possibly earn his first NHL call-up. He has potential to be a top-nine forward.
