SCOUT COMMENTS
“He’s got tools — his skills, his shot, his hands, his vision, his strength on the puck. Those are NHL skills. Next year, when he starts the season with everyone else and grows with the pace of the game, the team that drafts him will see what kind of player he can become.” — Mooseheads head coach Dominique Ducharme (metronews.ca, June 2012) … “He has great ability to get into holes, he can shoot the puck, he knows what to do with it once he gets it and he can score. He’s got very good work ethic off the ice, he’s willing to compete, he’s willing to battle, he wants to go into the hard areas and get the puck … and he knows what it’s going to take at the next level.” — Red Wings scout Mark Leach (June 2012).

STRENGTHS
Boasts an absolute cannon of a shot that can terrorize opposing goaltenders … Screaming one-timer … Uses his good-sized frame to protect the puck … Excellent hands for scoring and passing … Can beat players 1-on-1 with his stick skills … Good vision and offensive awareness … Right-handed shot on right wing, but has also proven to be effective on the left side … Extremely dangerous on power plays.

WEAKNESSES
Skating is a step slow … Takes ill-timed, undisciplined, retaliatory penalties … Shot accuracy could improve … Could shoot more, and could take some steam off his shots to improve its accuracy … Doesn’t back-check as much as he should … Conditioning needs work.

PROJECTION
Frk was forced to sit idle while he healed from a nasty concussion for the first four months of the 2011-12 season, and his play was up and down after returning. There’s no doubting his offensive skills, especially his lethal shot, and he has plenty of upside as a scoring winger. On a strong Halifax squad featuring potential No. 1 overall 2013 pick Nathan MacKinnon, expect a breakout season for Frk in 2012-13.
