The real comparrison, is Granderson VS Jackson + whoever we have as a result of Jackson being cheaper, who we wouldn't have otherwise if Granderson stayed.

Defensively, Jackson is right there with Granderson, in my opinion.

remember when Granderson was here and some people were ready to run him outta town? Either way Granderson defensively is great but a lot of his highlight plays are a result of him being out of position Jackson I don't feel has that problem.

I think on the defensive side, Jackson and Granderson are comparable, and Jackson might even be better. Offensively, there is no comparison.

How many HRs did Granderson hit because he was playing his home games in Yankee Stadium instead of Comerica Park?
Reggie Dunlop: What are you guys doing?
Steve Hanson: Puttin' on the foil!
Jeff Hanson: Every game!
Jack Hanson: Yeah, you want some?

Doesn't matter. True, Granderson's swing is tailor made for Yankees stadium, but lets look at his splits:

Granderson
HOME: 66 runs, 21 HRs, 62 RBIs 12 Steals
AWAY: 70 runs, 20 HRs, 57 RBIs 13 Steals
TOTAL: 136 runs, 41 HRs, 119 RBIs, 25 Steals

Jackson:
HOME: 47 runs, 5 HRs, 19 RBIs, 15 Steals
AWAY: 43 runs, 5 HRs, 26 RBIs, 7 Steals
TOTAL:90 runs, 10 HRs, 45 RBIs, 22 Steals

Both put up pretty much the same number at home vs. away from their park.

And the argument of... he plays for the Yankees, anyone could get that many runs/rbis in that lineup doesn't makes sense, because there have been plenty of Yankees hitting in the 2-hole, who haven't put up 130+ run/110+ RBI seasons.

The guy is a legitimate league-MVP-grade MONSTER. The fact that he wasn't hitting as well when he was with Detroit, doesn't change the fact he is a top-5 player right now. Jackson isn't. Will he turn into one? I severely doubt it. But, that doesn't mean it wasn't a good trade. It was a great trade because we got a nice young CF at a fraction of the cost, allowing us to plug some other holes. It worked out for NY because they have the money to get and pay the best player at every position. But, you have to have some severely rose-colored glasses not to recognize Granderson as the better player between the two.

Granderson is having a great year....maybe a career year, but that remains to be seen if he can do it again next year.
It took Granderson 8 years to have a year like this, it isn't fair to compare it to a second year player that we have no way of telling yet the extent of his upside.

people also forget the trade wasn't straight up Ganderson for Jackson we gave up Edwin Jackson too and got Coke, Schlerith(however it's spelt) scherezer and Jackson. without those guys we're not in the ALCS right now, and while Granderson is great and was my favorite tiger while here, he was being used wrong as a leadoff guy when he isn't.
