I'd be willing to bet that Leyland had Jackson play shallower than usual in case of a play at the plate. Any other time, Jackson would've had that ball. And Granderson made two fine plays but the first one he was just plain lucky. It darn near looked like the Curt Flood play from the 68 WS. That first inning killed the Tigers for the whole night. They could've just plain destroyed Burnetts already shaky confidence and couldn't do it. From then on, the Tiger bats were silent, except for V-Marts homer. And Wilson Betemit had some of the worse at bats I ever saw. I thought sure Leyland would pull him for Inge later in the game but, he didn't. I thought Porcello pitched well enough to win, but receive no support from his hitters. And the bullpen scores a huge fail from that 6 run 7th. With that, I still think the Tigers can win it on Thursday. If Fister is on, they've got a chance. But, they have to get him some runs to take the pressure off and that rookie pitcher for the Yanks will be tough. Also, Tigers need Avila to get going offensively, more from Peralta and Jackson. Cabrera has had only one good game and that was game two. He needs to get going and V-Mart also needs to get going.

Porcello got lucky, he was leaving pitches up in the zone all night. They could have easily scored 6 or 7 on him. Bad ABs from a lot of guys, a couple mistakes on defense, the Tigers just plain deserved to lose that game.
Reggie Dunlop: What are you guys doing?
Steve Hanson: Puttin' on the foil!
Jeff Hanson: Every game!
Jack Hanson: Yeah, you want some?

I turned it off after the 5th, couldn't take anymore bad at bats, and balls falling in for the Yankees. Avila looks lost at the plate, Miggy looks like he is trying too hard, Santiago should just sac bunt everytime there is a runner on 1st, Betemit gave away a few at bats. I think that is a run on sentence.

Marlboro man has to get these guys to relax and just play ball, I think they are all too tense, this is where experience is huge.

Oh well, Fister needs a strong showing and the bats need to wake up tomorrow. I still think the Tigers have this.

We knew Granderson was a very good CF, you don't get Jackson, Scherzer, Coke, and Schlereth for nothing.

Granderson's first catch was only spectacular because it had to be to cover his mistake of starting in first, but he did make a difference last night as we have seen from him before and we have seen from Jackson at times too.

Granderson has been killing the Tigers, but I don't think Jackson is done yet.

What about AVILA??? He's 0 for 12 with two walks! That guy is a MESS right now.

Also, as much as I love Martinez he's been choking at the plate also. He has one RBI. His only RBI is from the HR he had last night. He's come up to the plate multiple times with RISP and has grounded out. In the regular season he was automatic and it was magic watching him come up to the plate, but now it's not looking so good.

V-Mart's also hobbled with a bad knee and now a bad toe. I just think Avila has ran out of gas from catching the last 150 or so games, at least it's seemed at times like it's been that many.

Granderson has 6 more years in the league, Jackson has time to equal him.

As for Avila:

DETROIT -- Tigers catcher Alex Avila said he has been nursing a minor knee injury throughout the postseason, but doesn’t expect it to limit his playing time or at-bat productivity.

Avila said he reaggravated it Monday night after he stepped on Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano’s foot at first base while running out a bunt attempt in the sixth inning. He was spotted limping back to the dugout, but resumed his catching duties the following inning.

Comparing Jackson to Granderson isn't fair to Jackson. Granderson finished the year with a 136/41/119/25 line ... that is INSANE. Jackson will never equal Granderson. But that's OK. The real comparrison, is Granderson VS Jackson + whoever we have as a result of Jackson being cheaper, who we wouldn't have otherwise if Granderson stayed.

Defensively, Jackson is right there with Granderson, in my opinion.

remember when Granderson was here and some people were ready to run him outta town? Either way Granderson defensively is great but a lot of his highlight plays are a result of him being out of position Jackson I don't feel has that problem.
