I've changed my mind. It was Lil' Mitch's tear-jerker letter to Bo that did it.

I swear, you need to be careful, you read too much Mitch and it starts to rub off on you. Next thing you know, you are watching Dr Phil and teaching your friends how to "live life."

I have Mitch's book, "Bo." I bought it a long time ago, before I caught on to what an insufferable twerp Albom is. It actually contains some decent stories, thanks to Bo being the real author, and Mitch just the note-taker/copyboy.

Today's Freep has a good article on Carr, by Rosenberg. Puts some of the Carr-bashing in perspective. I'm old enough to remember when Bo had lost 4 straight to OSU, and people were saying he'd lost it as a coach. Here's hoping the Wolverines pull this one out.

Damn it!

I read Albomb's tear-jerker to Bo just now, and the weird-eared little freak got to me... I think it was the shoes under the table, still where Bo kicked them off last year.

OK, I'm over it. No more tears, unless Hart can't go today. :)

Can't wait for Miss Priss's next bestseller: "Saturdays With Bo's Ghost"

I particularly enjoyed Mitch’s Fab Five: Basketball, Trashtalk and the American Dream.

Yes, the American Dream…where five incredibly talented high school basketball players come together in pursuit of a common goal—to win a college national championship and become rich, even before turning pro.

I still think of them as the "Fab Three." Jackson and King were good college players, but they were never destined to be NBA stars.

Take away all the hype, good and bad, the baggy-shorts that are now old-hat, and all the Ed Martin-business, and you still end up with five freshmen who took it to the Finals, and did it again as sophomores. That's not something you're likely to see again.

Heh, never proven--thank you for that little tap-dance, Jalen…or, should I call you OJ?

As for Lloyd, his problem, at least among the old-timers, is that he’s not Bo, except when it comes to Rose Bowl/bowl game winning percentage and dealing with the media (Lloyd hates the media, just like Bo did):

Bo Schembechler believed in strong blocking. Once, he applied a literal interpretation of that principle to the press.

During the 1979 season, Schembechler shoved Daily sports editor Dan Perrin. Perrin, interviewing Schembechler with a tape recorder, asked the coach about the Wolverines' dismal kicking record.

Schembechler threw the microphone down and pushed Perrin in a hallway outside a press luncheon.

"Don't try to make me look bad, you understand, son, or I'll throw you the hell out of Michigan football," Schembechler could be heard on the tape telling Perrin.

When questioned about the incident later, Schembechler told a reporter, "I don't even remember; you know these kids."

And here's something about Lloyd I didn’t know until just the other day:

From when Carr was hired in 1995 through Jan. 1, 1998, when Michigan beat Washington State to win the sportswriter’s view of the national championship, he went 7-0 against Top-10 ranked teams. At a point somewhat later, Carr was 10-1 against the Top-10 and to this day still has a 16-8 overall record when going against such teams.

Damn…that’s pretty good. But I can certainly understand why a Sock Puppet would’ve wanted him fired ten years ago.
