That depends. Here’s a couple of tests, using mainstream media bias, to help you figure it out.
A recent Pew Research poll showed that nearly a quarter of U.S.-based Muslims thought suicide bombing was, at least in some cases, an appropriate means of defending Islam, while just over 75% were opposed to terrorism of any kind and held “traditional American values.”
In this post-9/11 world, not one major mainstream media outlet that I know of framed the headline/lead of that poll pointing to the nearly 25% of those who could envision a scenario in which blowing your mother, sister or daughter to smithereens would be justified. Mention of those folks typically did not occur until well into the body of most pieces.
If you feel that nearly a quarter of U.S.-based Muslims who would have no problem seeing you dead should you oppose Islam is worthy of a headline/mention in a lead, then, according to lefties, you are a racist.
Let’s look at another headline that was written some time ago based upon polling data:
“Sixty percent of blacks think O.J. is innocent.”
Do you believe that headline? I don’t.
My guess is that there were five choices in taking that poll—
O.J. is definitely guilty
O.J. is probably guilty,
O.J. is probably innocent,
O.J. is definitely innocent
Undecided
How about adding a sixth choice? Like, say, “O.J. is guilty as hell, but I’m happy he got away with it as a way to stick it the Whitey criminal justice system that has traditionally and unfairly oppressed blacks.”
If you feel that perhaps a few black people might, if being totally honest, chose that sixth response, then, according to lefties, you are a racist.
ETA: Oh, and if you feel we are a nation of laws and that all people coming into this country illegally are law-breakers and should be deported to stand in line behind those who've played by the rules and made legal application to enter this country, then you are a racist.
