Ironical Inge

The Tigers had to part company I suppose.. He had been in Detriot for a long time, had more talent than Tramell or Whitaker, and he could never put it together on a consistent basis. Flashes of brilliance from time to time, and long periods of misery.

In a strange twist of Fate, Inge has more grand slams in the past week, than mighty Albert P has home runs all this year.............. aint that kick in the arse.....

He did this last season when he was demoted and then recalled. He had a great period when his job was on the line, and then once it became obvious he was comfortable he reverted to "Called Strike Three"

I see him having a great 2-3 week period with Oakland. Then the minute he becomes every day, he will fall back to batting .150.

More talent than Whitaker and Trammell? Are you **** high? I was an Inge fan, but that's like saying that Draper had as much talent as Yzerman.
Reggie Dunlop: What are you guys doing?
Steve Hanson: Puttin' on the foil!
Jeff Hanson: Every game!
Jack Hanson: Yeah, you want some?

Yeah, that's pushing it. Either way Inge was many things. A very good utility player and a player who was dedicated enough to learn new positions what seemed like every other week. Most of all he was an enigma, lots of pop in the bat, but no consistency, 20+ home runs one year, struggling to stay above .230 the next, sometimes the same season! I don't miss him but whatever would've been nice to have him right now
And it's all for me grog, me jolly, jolly grog All for me beer and tobacco Well I spent all me tin on the lassies drinking gin

More talent than Whitaker and Trammell?

I've watched over the years.....

He runs like a gazelle, has a cannon of an arm

Remember a guy named Daryll Laplante

This guy in the team skills competition , in the speed skate blew everybody including Federov and Dandenault away.... he shot the puck at over 100 mph (also fastest on the team at that time)...... but the guy still sucked at hockey

In my estimation, Inge had talent (physical ability) in spades... fantastic overall athlete, and still found a way to be well below average overall as a player

Do with that you want.....

He can run and throw, but that's not talent, that's athletic ability. It's like Helm vs Hudler. Helm has raw athletic ability, Hudler has talent. Top players have both.

Fair enough, that is what I meant... his problem was never lack of "athletic ability"

I agree with you, although defensively he was better, over all he isn't.

And now he is headed to the DL.......

Maybe Oakland should trade him to someone else for a long shot young prospect, then INGE could go on another tear... for two weeks before reality sets in again
