Tigers trade Casper Wells and Charlie Furbush and possibly others to Seattle for starting pitcher Doug Fister and reliever David Pauley.

Fister is a good pitcher. hes like 3-12, which scares you. But a 3.33 ERA. And to not give up Jacob Turner, which so far it appears thhey haven't, is a nice trade.

Hopefully this works out better than a lot of other DD trades. He looks like he has some talent at least, his last 10 games he's 0-7 but has pitched at least 6 innings every game and hasn't allowed more than 4 ERs.

I hate giving up young talented lefties though.

According to mlbtraderumors.com, 3rd base prospect Martinez was also sent to Seattle in the deal.

I'm OK with it.... Fister is good and under our control for quite awhile. FMart one of our better prospects. Furbush is filler and Wells replaceable though a decent fourth OF . Looks like we'll be seeing alot more of Dirks. I understand there is one more ptbnl.

Or talented righties like Jurrjens

ANALYSIS: With the prices for Ubaldo Jimenez(notes) and Hiroki Kuroda(notes) prohibitive, Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski struck on the market’s underside by acquiring Fister, who some scouts think is more a product of Seattle’s strong defense and big stadium. The 6-foot-8 right-hander is all about command and control, his fastball rarely cracking 90 mph. However the Tigers work out their rotation – keeping top prospect Jacob Turner(notes), who makes his major league debut Saturday, for Brad Penny(notes), or just going with Justin Verlander(notes), Max Scherzer(notes), Rick Porcello(notes), Fister and Penny – their pitching has gotten better. Your move, Cleveland.

@bobwojnowski Bob Wojnowski
Fister actually has better ERA and WHIP this season than Mariners' King Felix Hernandez. Just sayin'. Got no run support. #tigers

Most are scared because of Washburn last year. The only thing similar to the Washburn deal to this one is they were both traded from the Mariners to the Tigers. Fister has a terrible record but had no run support, has a good ERA and is signed until 2015.

I'm excited to see Turner pitch today. I almost got to see him pitch for West Michigan last year when they were here in town to face the Bowling Green Hot Rods (Rays farm team). Missed his start by one day, pfftt..
