Les Miles

An OSU fan in Church today told me that Miles has a 10 year contract with LSU. He also said however, that his contract has an escape clause that he can take the job at Michigan if it be available (similar to Holtz had at Minnesota when the ND job became available)

Does anyone know if this is true?

He has a $1.25 million buyout to leave LSU for Michigan.

From what I've seen and heard from him, I'm all for that.

Michigan will pay for the buyout if they want him bad enough.

They will also have to buy-out LLLLoyd's assistants, as he was smart enough to negotiate for them two-year contracts this past spring. No big deal, I realize.

The timing on Miles is going to be tough, though, if LSU wins out and goes to the NC game. That’ll be over a month of he and his staff being in Baton Rouge preparing the LSU team for that game when they should be in A2 recruiting players for Michigan next season.

You know, I have it on good authority that Gary Moeller is already up to Step-8 (again) and is proudly displaying his six-month sobriety pin to whomever he comes across. Maybe a second chance is in order?

I had forgotten about that. Carr shouldn't be shoving his assistants down the throat of the new coach. I guess Carr gets to write a severance package for his assistants courtesy of the U of M. Nice.

yup, and only 500,000 for any other school in the country. smart on LSU's part for being realistic.

It's an interesting dilemma, fer sure. Can UM blow off this recruiting-season, and wait for Miles to finish winning the national championship with LSU? Or would possible UM recruits be swayed by the strong possibility, of Miles coming to Michigan?

Another scenario has UM forcing Miles to leave LSU now, and start the recruitin' immediately, or whenever it's legal. I don't think that will happen, but it wouldn't shock me if it did. If LSU knows Miles is history, they might not want him around for the bowl game, and might want to give him his walking papers right away.

I think Michigan should do what it takes, to get this highly-qualified, highly-successful Michigan Man to Ann Arbor. I don't see any other candidate out there I like nearly as much, with as much potential, and that includes the volatile (assholish) Steve Spurrier, whose name has popped-up recently.

He isn't. Carr gets $300k by retiring, he wanted to make sure that his assistants were protected in case they get fired and can't find another job right away.

From what I heard, he doesn't have to pay a cent if he leaves fro anywhere other than Michigan. Michigan was the only school named in the clause.

If he leaves LSU for Michigan, the boosters will pay his buyout.

They need to get rid of Ron English. He may be a good ass kicker, but when it comes to defensive preperation and getting his team ready to face spread or passing offenses.... HE IS ABSOLUTELY USELESS

He does not have a clue how to disgiuise coverage schemes, present different looks to the opponent

If he knows the other team is going to throw the ball, he can't stop it

I don;t care what kind of hype he got last year He gave up 30 points to ball state, ohio state, and USC, and this he did the same thing against app state and oregon

He knows how to stop claasic grind it out offenses like ND and Penn St

Tressel and Carroll can shred his defense without much effort
