Chad Henne

Setting aside my shtick for a moment, I’d like to say that I think he’s matured wonderfully and has handled what must've been a personally frustrating season for him like a real pro. (He was nothing but class in his post-game comments following UM's victory over MSU).

Earlier in his career, I thought Henne was an insufferable, arrogant jerk. But what 18 year-old kid out there starting at QB for the Michigan Wolverines would be able to prevent any ego from creeping into his persona? That’s pretty heady stuff and I suspect there aren’t many who could handle it smoothly.

Unlike Michigan’s last QB who started all four years of his career at UM (Rick Leach), Henne seemed to outgrow his “prick-ness” as each season passed. I think he has a little work to do with his throwing mechanics, but given the right NFL QB coach, I’m sure he’ll get it done and maybe even enjoy some Tom Brady-like success someday.

I’ll cheer for Henne in the Alamo Bowl (I think that’s where M is heading) and on Sundays in the future. I’ll also cheer for Jake Long because I think he’s a class act, as well.

(I won’t cheer for that short, arrogant, mouthy #20, however. I hope he enjoys his upcoming playing career in Canada).

Harts "little brother" comment must have hit close to home.

Hart’s post-game mouth gets him into trouble. Witness yesterday. Don’t think for a moment that Hart’s quotes after last year’s UM-OSU game weren’t pasted to the inside of every Buck’s defensive player's locker for the entire season.

But, hey, that was a nice block Lil’ Mikey got on the blitzing OSU DB. And then he pushed him down again and got into his face. Wow. Awesome. Too bad that’s the only thing Lil’ Mikey accomplished of note yesterday.

The end result is he gets to crow about going 4-0 against his little brother while wearing the 0-4 collar against his big brother.

That middle child syndrome can be a bitch, I hear.

Screw Henne, won't miss him. Don't kid yourself, he'll never be anything close to Tom Brady in the pros. I will be surprised if he has a pro career of any significance at all. No leadership and very poor accuracy = lousy pro.

Love Mike Hart, it'll be neat to see what he does in the NFL. He has a lot working against him (size and being prone to injuries), but his work ethic and heart should get him some pro time, I'm sure.

Long will be a solid lineman in the NFL, probably a pro-bowler eventually. It's disappointing he'll probably go to a crap team based on the premise that he is a top-5 pick. Maybe he'll help turn a team like the 49ers around.

Tom Brady wasn't supposed to be Tom Brady either. And No leadership? Did you watch any of the games? There was a huge leadership void when Mallet was at QB. And have you ever separated your shoulder? I have, it's not fun. It's no wonder that he ahd acciracy problems this year. I'm amazed that he could do as much as he did with it.

Hart should be a decent 3rd down back, but I doubt anyone will give him a chance to be much more than that. I hope so, because I think that he could be a good running back.

Jake Long should be phenomenal in the NFL. He didn't allow a sack all year until Gholston beat him Saturday, and I don't think he got called for a single penalty the entire season. He's a top 5 pick, no question.

Long will be a stud...or turn into a Jeff Backus. I'm not sure, yet.

Henne will be fine once he gets to an NFL organization that can work on his mechanics -- footwork and developing a more over-the-top delivery on his passes. (That shot-put/slingshot style delivery he now has will get batted down at the LOS frequently in the NFL).

Lil' Mikey has Canadian Football League written all over him.

No one knew Tom Brady would be what he is now, but at least when he was at Michigan he demonstrated leadership skills. And yes, I watched all the games, I don't miss Michigan games. That wasn't a leadership void when Mallet was in the game, that was an experience and skill void. Big difference. When Brady was at UM and was running the offense, the other 10 guys believed everything he said in the huddle, they bought into him as their QB so much that they would do anything he said. Henne doesn't command nearly as much respect. Lastly, Henne had accuracy problems waaaaaaaaay before he hurt his shoulder. He's been consistently over-throwing recievers since his freshman year.

Here's your "leader" Mr. Hart...

Mr. 'I've Got Plenty to Say to the Press About Little Brothers When We Win' suddenly, apparently, had an important post-game appointment to get to after getting his ass kicked by his big brother.

"Gotta go, gotta go."

Now they are getting bashed for not talking to the media? Screw the media and their over-bearing sense of self-importance.
