Mr. Turkeyneck speaks

Unread postby stillsomeguy on Sun Oct 21, 2007 12:12 pm

“...people better enjoy it now…have their fun now…”

Not sure whether Jabba was speaking to those of us laughing at ND’s record this year (his third year) or those of us who split a gut when his Irish players took the field yesterday wearing those God-awful-looking uniforms.

(I get the green jersey thing, but yellow pants)?

We are enjoying it now, and we are having fun now. I haven't seen a major college football program go this far down the toilet, so quickly, since...well, I can't remember any right now. Sorry!

Whatever happened to the Notre Dame guys, who used to post here? And I haven't seen a Notre Dame flag flying on Saturday in my neighborhood, since the second week of the season. It's kind of nice.

Loved this commercial, from SNL. Way to pile on!

ND won't join the big 11

Unread postby Mrhockeytown on Mon Oct 22, 2007 12:38 am

won't happen, just because ND is having a poor year doesn't stop my being a fan, just like when lloyds boys crapped the bed vs app st the blue fans didn't disappear.bad year, hopefully it gets better next year.been an ND fan since i was 11 when i 1st started watching college ball
.i've heard and seen all the dumb cracks from the offensive molesting priest remarks to the idiotic fat coach jokes.they are bad this year, insulting the coach or the usual u-m fan referring to ND as a haven for child molestation by priests just shows a fan that needs to tear another down to make themselves feel better.shows insecurity, sad really.
But ain't about how hard you hit It's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward how much you can take, and keep moving forward.

So you've only been a fan for less than a year? I kid, I kid!

If you can't take a little ribbing about a horrible season, a fat coach, and pedophilic priests, you have no business being a Notre Dame fan. This is a school so revered by the media, they have their own broadcast channel, NBC. Wouldn't want to miss those games against the academies!

In all seriousness, I know several ND grads personally, including my sister who got her doctorate there. I have no serious axe to grind with them, except when they show hypersensitivity to criticism, which, as Someguy will tell you, only forces us sucky mean people to pounce.

Besides, as Kathy Griffin's mother said about the Catholic Church scandal, "some of those priests barely touched those boys." I mean, what's the big deal?

On the other hand, I have to work out harder and eat less, and drink less alcohol, as I get older, to avoid turning into Mr. Blimpie myself. I have some sympathy for the guy, he almost died after all from the surgery, but I do believe in taking some personal responsibility for everything that is shoved down your gullet. Unless you're an altar boy, in which case...never mind.
