Though, why not Gustav?

Like the article said, Tatar has been their best player and is being rewarded with a callup to the big club.

You know at first I was like, wow, he's only 20th in the league in scoring, but then when you see how many games he's missed, it's much more impressive. If he had played in all of this team's games he'd probably have 80 some points.
“He actually looks like Chris Pronger,” Babcock said. “He doesn’t cross-check and that stuff, but he does the rest.”

What about Nyquist... Is there any chance he could secure a roster spot next year?

WHO???

sorry about that Chief

Tatar will be making his Red Wings season debut Friday. He has 13 goals and 23 assists in 49 games with the Griffins. The small but skilled winger had one goal and no assists in nine games with the Red Wings in 2010-11.

It depends on who they lose this summer and who they bring in. Right now, they might not have any forwards leave. Bertuzzi is likely coming back, probably for about what he's making this year. Homer might decide to retire while he can still walk, but if Lidstrom comes back, he might want one more go around too. I think they're going to talk to Hudler, and as long as Babcock says that he'll use him on a scoring line and not drop him to the 3rd or 4th line at the drop of a hat, you'd think he'd want to stay here. Granted, if he hits July 1st someone will probably drop $4.5mil+ at him, but if Detroit offers him $3.5 or so before then, I don't think he'll be available then. If one of them leaves particularly Hudler or Bertuzzi, they're going to want to try and bring in a proven scorer, not rely on a rookie.

There is no way in hell Tatar has been there best player of late....he has 4 points in his last 9 games ....they might be shopping him? Tatar is over rated !!!
Nyquist has 9 pts in his past 7 games!!! Hmm seems a bit better?
Hell...Jamie Johnson is on fire with 10 pts in his past 7 games and Minard has 8 pts in 3 games!

Conner 0 poiints in his past 5 and playing minus 4.....hmmm
Andersson is sucking too!!!!!

It's Tatar's turn. Do you think Babcock is going to say "well, he's sucked lately, but we decided to bring him up for a game or two anyway?"

Thank-you, I think I agree.
But in years gone by many have missed their rightful turn as well. I just wonder if there is any "showing" going on as for potential trades? We have have Nyquist I think we need to keep, and he needs to contiue to develop, but are qwe thinking Tatar might be one we can let go for returns now?

That might be part of it, but I think they also want to evaluate him against NHL competition, and maybe give him a reminder of what he can earn if he works hard. Out of all their top forward prospects, I do think he's the one most likely to be traded though.
